By Avinab Singh
Like others have pointed out in their reviews its a waste of money buying this item. It doesn't work with old keyboards as they don't have signal converter. It just plug converter. If you have a old keyboard which you want to use with a new PC/laptop buy one of the expensive ones that have a signal converter.

"Absolutely love it (can't wait to learn all the functions)" 2009-11-17
By Kam G. (Washington, DC)
I'm an experienced guitar player and a beginner on the keyboard. Can't wait to learn the advanced functions on this thing, but it looks beautiful and sounds great. Not quite the build quality required for gigging (which you might find in a $1,000 keyboard) because it's made out of lightweight plastic, but it has a million different options that you can get creative with.

 "Casio WK3800 keyboard" 2008-02-25
By Gary S. Chong (Jackson, MS USA)
The Casio WK3800 is a fun and very versatile keyboard with good quality onboard speakers. My previous keyboard, which I still have, is an older Yamaha PSR series. The WK3800 gives you a good deal of control and "fine tuning" for each of the preset digital voices/tones (e.g., attack/release, touch response, reverb, vibratto, resonance, octave, pan, equalizer, and other effects, which can be saved as new user tones ... and then mixed (using layer and split) onto the keyboard and saved as an entry in the register. You can monitor/record on several separate tracks of and, later, put them all together for a rich composition playback. The only downside with recording to the separate tracks is that you lose the layer/split functions during recording (a small hassle that I hope the next series of Casio keyboards will rectify). If you would like to have a layered and split recording (four tone settings used), you have to record each of the four tones separately (i.e., record yourself playing your song four times). This limitation of the record function is the only reason I did not give the Casio WK3800 4 stars out of 5, instead of a perfect 5.

"AC adapter NOT provided; however EXCELLENT keyboard for beginners" 2009-09-25
By K. Wu (Dallas, TX)
I did a lot of research before I finally order YAMAHA EZ-200 a week ago from Amazon ($150+plus shipping)

I had a couple years of basic piano lessons and wanting a keyboard for myself to learn some songs for self-entertaining purpose, using synthesia program. The features that I was looking for:

-Minimal 61 keys/regular size keys for basic beginners

-lighted keys for guided practice

-LCD for guided fingering

-realistic piano sounds

-piano like touch (Touch sensitive keys)

-ability to download MIDI from the computer

After playing with YAMAHA EZ-200 for a week, it delivers what I am looking for:

-content in the box include: EZ-200 keyboard, a product manual, a song book and a demo DVD of YAMAHA products.

-the keyboard was well made (made in China), elegant look; does not have that cheap plastic feeling

-YAMAHA education suite allows you to set a section between A point and B point, which let you practice that segment repeatedly

-the keyboard does simulate a stand-up piano quality

-"Waiting" function allows lighted key to pause and wait for you to catch up the music

-Allows practice separate right hand and left hand practice

-Allows to slow down the tempo the the song (included) that helps practice

A few things I'd like to address, not related to how EZ-200 was made, but probably would have affect my purchasing decision if I had known it ahead of time:

-AC adapter NOT included with YAMAHA EZ-200.

I was shocked when I realize the AC adapter is not included, especially when the product manual stresses the importance of using an AC adapter for environmental friendly reason. After seeing many sellers include AC adapter in their package, I did suspect AC adapter may not included in the box, but I still choose to purchase EZ-200 without any other bells and whistles. A friend purchased the YAMAHA PSR-E230 bundle with a keyboard stand and earphones. She reports the stand was flimsy and not sturdy for the keyboard. I really don't need a filmsy stand that doesn't serve the purpose, but a AC adapter that can spare the use of batteries and prevent environmental pollution, I can use one.

-USB MIDI Cable Converter (PC to Music Keyboard) NOT included

The YAMAHA EZ-200 keyboard itself is excellent!!! I'll give it a 5-star rating. As for the overall package, until it comes with AC adapter, I'll give it 4 star.

C'mon, it's like a boom box radio that did not provide a AC adapter. YAMAHA, WHAT R U THINKING???

 "hmmm..." 2009-07-14
By JMB (Los Angeles, Ca. USA)
I am a 36 yo man, I've always wanted to learn piano so I thought I'd get this keyboard which I thought had built in lessons that would guide my learning to play the piano...

For all intents and purposes, doesn't the description seem to infer that? That with the Y.E.S.5 teaching system and all those built in songs you'd have a well thought out lesson plan built in. That was my misunderstanding:::

What it actually is is a nice keyboard that you can learn on, but it won't teach you- the emphasis is on getting out what you put in- you have to really stumble your way thru learning the built in songs that the keyboard lights up the correct keys you're supposed to strike- there is not a good fluid way to learn a little piece at a time (It does have an A-B feature but it's not so much a loop as it is a measure to measure cycle with a 2-4 bar intro, each time!) So its not like you can just sit there and play it over and over and over again until you and your fingers get it, its: play the 2 or so bars you select (A-B) and then at the end, it goes thru at least a 2 bar beat count and then resumes the 2 bars of the song you're trying to learn.... does that make sense?

There are not lesson plans. In the book it says to "Listen to and Learn" the song. My memory isn't that fantastic that I can learn the songs by listening to them and then just learning, I think it would be a vast improvement to have a real loop feature that you could use to select a portion, loop it ad infinitum until you learn it and them move on. Also, I was really thinking that with the latest Learning System (Y.E.S.5) that there would be beginner lessons on reading the sheet music, finger drills, scales, etc... all the stuff you learn when you're learning piano- this piano system is for prodigies and people who already know piano.

So while it is a nice keyboard, it is not the EZ piano that will teach you how to play, you will have to look elsewhere to learn, or teach yourself, but this keyboard with all its songs and such will not be a step by step tutor....

I purchased this as a gift for my wife. We have't had a chance to really get into all it's functions, but so far it's great. Very light weight, the lighted keys work fine, the sound is terrific, and the sound is sensitive to the pressure on the keys. We both hope to learn some basic songs in the future with this.

"Good, sturdy stand for the money." 2009-01-17
By M. Fogle (Durham, NC USA)
I purchased this stand for my Yamaha P85 digital piano. It's very sturdy and well made, only I wish it would have a lower minimum height for my youngest daughter. You should note that some keyboards and digital pianos are not flat on the bottom and won't sit level on this X-stand (or most other X-stands for that matter) - they'll tend to slide around. This problem is easily solved by getting yourself a 4' x 1' x 0.75" piece of shelf board or similar, priming and spray-painting it black, then place it on the stand. Keyboards with rubber feet will sit nicely on the board and won't slide around.

"Are seat belts really required?" 2007-12-14
By Samuel Chell (Kenosha,, WI United States)
This World Tour Double X Keyboard Stand, available for a "song" from American Musical Supply, is the one I use for any keyboard weighing over 50 pounds (Roland RD-700 and Kurzweil PC-88 or PC-2X are a couple of examples). These should not require a strap (or glue, velcro, anchors, or whatever the previous reviewer had in mind). I play "hard," and I have yet to lose a keyboard from this stand. For lighter-weight keyboards (Kurzweil SP models, Roland RD-300SX, Korg SP-500) I use the single-brace version of this stand (it's much easier to throw inside of a case or strap to the outside) and haven't had any disasters (sure, some bouncing around--but that's frequently a helpful reminder to calm down and stop rushing the tempo). The handiest, most indestructible keyboard stand I own is a featherlight aluminum X with a canvas-strap top, long out of business (sadly). Just beware of the stands that are sold with the Casios and Yamahas at Best Buy and Circuit City (I've had to use one in the pinch and, though just as expensive as the World Tour models, it fell apart within a couple of months).

One caveat: if you're doing a "lounge act," all of these X models, regardless of how practical the design is, don't do much for appearance (especially if your knees are knobby like mine). Instead, consider investing in a table-type of stand and even draping a sexy curtain down the front (put an iridescent, spaced-out picture of Sun Ra on it).

 "Decent Universal Keyboard Stand" 2006-01-20
By AJ Chan (ca, usa)
This keyboard stand isn't half bad as it allows you to use pretty much any keyboard on this stand. Comes assembled so no work to start using it and has these rubber covers to help secure the keyboard. Since the keyboard just sits atop of the stand, it does move a bit if you bang on your keyboard, but if you have a heavy keyboard, its not much of a problem. For the most part, there's no complaints about it. If you would like a first hand view on the stand, you can always go to a Sam Ash music store and find the stand there. It seems to be the standard issue double X keyboard stand they sell there.

 "doesn't secure the keyboard" 2006-01-19

There is not a way to secure the keyboard to the stand. It just rests on top. So if you are at all energetic when you play, the keyboard slides all over the place.

"best in it`s prince range" 2010-02-15
By femto0
Loaded with features. Acoustic sounds are pretty real, leads and pads are great, better yet is layering them and make up your own sounds.

Internal speakers are loud and clear with no noise, and so does when fully amplified into a PA.

Using it is simple and having a SD card gives a practically limitless storage for setups and songs.

Action has been enhanced from previews generation Casios (ie WK 3300 and such). It is deep and almost as hard as a "semi weighted" or "light weighted", I am used to an acoustic upright piano and I love it. It still makes a little noise when pressed but not as much as the previews generation.

It`s very light for transportation.

As usb-midi controller it works very well. Connecting it to a PC was what plug and play was meant to be. WinXP and all the software I tried recognized it immediately and worked perfectly.

As drawback the back connectors aren't fixed to the chassis but to the internal circuit, so they don't feel too strong. And the AC adapter must be bought separately.

"Outstanding keyboard, suitable for any skill-leveled musician!" 2010-01-30
By T. Boehm
It took me a while to make a decision on a keyboard, because I knew I needed one that was going to perform. After carefully reading reviews I had made my decision to go with this keyboard, the CTK-5000 from Casio. I have to say first hand that I am absolutely impressed with this keyboard and all of the features it has to offer. A pitch-bending wheel, 600+ sounds, songs, rhythms as well as music intros, fill-ins, variations, endings, etc. It contains a dynamic interface which shows you which keys to press on the keyboard when playing a song, a very intuitive tool for beginners and a great resource in general. The ability to connect to external devices (such as a synthesizer, sustain pedal, and even your computer!) really sold me as well. If you own Midi software, you can really take your music composition to another level. You can save music to an SD card slot which is a very nice way to back up what you have composed. Multi-track recording, sample creation, layered keys, etc are also just part of this wonderful device. I really have not found any reason not to like the purchase I have made. There are new things to experiment with every time I play.

I am having a great time learning to replay the piano. This is the perfect way for me to get back into it, although I only had two years as a child, it still is turning into a great time.

 "Its allright for home" 2009-01-28

Looks like Casio is better now, this is very complete, it doesnt sounds perfect like as if u where hearing a deep acoustic piano but for its price is allright im sure u can practice in it getting acceptable sounds. If you dont want to spend too much and get something usable i recommend it.

 "Good, but not great" 2009-01-25

This is a very nice keyboard for home use, even more so as the price is right. The digital readout is easy to see, with nice big black letters and numbers for the important information. The sound is crisp and clear. There are many voices and rhythms to choose from. I especially like the "teach yourself to play" system with so many playalong tunes and a nice fat songbook. The folk and classical rhythms and accompaniments are WONDERFUL and not found on other keyboards. I like the piano voices in my CT640 better though. Maybe one day I will have this set up as a MIDI and can download those better voices from the Casio website into this keyboard. It's really a very nice instrument, with a headphone jack that works well, putting out a similar sound to what comes through the speakers. Because the piano voices are not the greatest, I recommend adding a sustain pedal when ordering as well as the power adapter, and, if your earphones have the little pin plugs, you will need a stereo phone plug to stereo pin plug adapter.

 "unhappy" 2008-12-30

When I ordered I thought it was a package deal. It was not, and Musicians "Friend" doesn't seem to care. I will never order from them again.

Same night a manager from Musicians Friend contacted me and sent out the rest of the package. Late and a bit of a run around, but i will call them "friend" again.
